The PD-8×8 is modular board that’s generally used to control a lamp matrix on a pinball machine. It can be driven directly by a P3-ROC, indirectly through a P-ROC with a PD-Master, or indirectly (through a high-speed RS-485 master device) by various other microcontroller-type devices.

Each PD-8×8 has an RS-485 serial interface so that it can chain to other drivers boards. Therefore, you can use as many driver boards as your application requires. Further, since the serial interface will continue to work at distances well over 10 feet (100 feet even), you can locate the boards in the backbox, under the playfield, or anywhere else in your machine.

The PD-8×8 has one bank of 8 n-channel MOSFETS and one bank of 8 p-channel MOSFETs. The p-channel circuits are typically connected to the source side of a lamp matrix column, and the n-channel circuits are typically connected to the sink side of a lamp matrix row. The p-channel bank can be powered by a DC voltage between 5v and 20v.
