P3 Flippers: Refined For Exceptional Reliability, Tuned For Performance
The lower flippers are your primary interface to gameplay and therefore the most important part of any pinball machine. We’ve spent more than 10 years improving the P3‘s flippers to provide exceptional functionality and reliability. We’ve also worked with partners to give you options to customize the feel and functionality of the flipper buttons so you can set them up the way that works best for you.If you’ve had less than ideal experiences with older P3 flippers, we’d love for you to give them another shot. We’ve listened to all of your feedback and worked hard to address your concerns. Performance and Reliability
The P3‘s flippers have a number of features that make them incredibly reliable:- Low mass aluminum flipper bats
- High-quality welded shafts
- High tensile-strength injection-molded flipper rods
- Custom-designed zinc-plated steel plungers that resist mushrooming
- Industry-standard 11630-style coils, sleeves, and coil stops
- Fixed-alignment design – the parts install at the correct alignment, no tweaking required
- Optical end-of-stroke switches – these ensure each flip has full strength throughout the bat’s travel
- Software-configurable reflip strength – tunable to deliver the perfect knockdown recovery for each P3 Playfield Module
- Non-ferrous plunger rest plates – these ensure the flipper travel has little resistance from start to finish

- USB-Enhanced P3 Button Boxes (for connecting USB headphones or USB thumb drives for updates)
- Low-Profile Button Boxes from Pinball Life – flush-mounted to the P3‘s cabinet sides and allow for traditional stage-flipping at the flip of a switch
- ComfortFlip Half Height Button Boxes from For Amusement Only Games – Medium-profile housings and alternate button configuration
Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Were the P3 Flippers Always Super Reliable?Answer: No – we’ve iterated the design over the years to address functional deficiencies and quality issues discovered by in-house testing and through customer feedback. All P3 machines and flipper assemblies shipped since March 2026 have all of the updated parts.
Question: I have an older P3 machine. Can I upgrade or replace my flippers with the new reliable and better performing version?
Answer: Absolutely. We’ve made all improvements available to all P3 owners throughout the process
- To replace the entire flipper assembly:
- Purchase a new P3 Flipper Assembly, which ships with all of the updated parts and installs with just a single connector.
- To update your older flipper assembly (choose only those you need):
- Add end-of-stroke switches (introduced in 2022)
- Upgrade to higher quality materials (stronger shaft welds, upgraded EOS boards/flags)
- Install Non-Ferrous Rest Plates (introduced in March 2026)
